Project (2) #6: New Mexico, Barrett Foundation
This project runs from February 1 (sorry, posted here a bit late!) to March 15, 2015.
Our items will go to the Barrett House Shelter for women and children. The shelter houses about 40 women and their kids at a time. They also offer other housing programs such as transitional housing from the shelter to an apartment of their own.
It was founded in 1985 as an emergency shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. Clients also receive life skills training in parenting, financial literacy, stress and time management, and career development. They receive assistance and information regarding health care, childcare, employment, substance abuse treatment, and mental health care.
The shelter is interested in whatever we want to knit/crochet, including:
Hats
Scarves
Mittens
Dishcloths
Pretty shawls/shawlettes
These can be knitted/crocheted in any washable fiber in sizes for adult women, and for children up to 18 yrs old.
Items should be mailed to:
K. Connors
PO Box 36072
Albuquerque, NM 87176
Please remember to attach our Sharing Our Gifts tag to each item sent. Happy Creating!
